Pentonville is a local prison and holds Category B and C males and A Wing is for this who are on remand and convicted. The prison was built in 1816 as a modern prison and was uniquely designed for rehabilitation.  It was the first radial design prison which allowed staff to view all 5 wings from the central hall.
