Shazia collects her belongings from reception so she can leave the prison every day to go to work in the local Sainsbury’s through the ROTL (Release On Temporary Licence) scheme from HMP East Sutton Park, Maidstone, United Kingdom. East Sutton Park is a women’s open prison and young offenders institute housing about 100 inmates, mostly women nearing the end of their sentence. Work at the prison includes farm work, horticulture, meat processing and catering, approximately half the prison population work in the local community through the release on temporary license (ROTL) scheme.
